Aims & Purpose

The Chamber has two main functions: to attract short break, leisure and shopping visitors to Hythe from across the county and farther afield; to increase footfall by residents and visitors at shops, restaurants, places of interest and attractions. Its activities include publication of a guide and other printed information, operation of a dedicated website, organisation of events and support for initiatives which make the town centre attractive. The Hythe Chamber of Commerce and Tourism is a not-for-profit organisation and is operated solely by volunteers.

History

The Hythe Chamber of Commerce & Tourism was set up in 2008 as the result of a merger of two organisations which shared a common interest in promoting Hythe as an attractive place to live, visit, work and do business: the Hythe Chamber of Commerce, formed in 1921, and the Hythe Tourism & Public Relations Forum, formed in 1998.
